Things are really heating up in the running shoe world at the moment with a frankly ridiculous number of exciting new shoes being launched. The most recent of these is the latest offering from On: the Cloudboom.
On states that the Cloudboom has been designed with input from elite athletes to deliver everything you could need in getting your fastest marathon ever. That includes a host of new features as well as design aspects taken from previous On shoes.

The most significant update is the addition of a full-length carbon-infused plate, a modification to its existing Speedboard technology that aims to deliver a springy responsiveness.
The Cloudboom also features a twin Cloudtec cushioning for comfort throughout the run, an extreme rocker shape to promote a rolling motion and a new grip-rubber compound on the outsole built for a high level of traction.
At 225 grams the shoe is clearly designed for faster runs, achieved partly due to the single layer engineered mesh upper that provides lightweight breathability.
“It has always been a dream of mine to create the ultimate competition running shoe”, says Olivier Bernhard, co-founder of On and multiple Ironman World Champion title holder. “The Cloudboom is created with the inputs of our elite athletes who know what it takes to run your fastest marathon ever. At the same time, I love the Clouboom’s silhouette. It incorporates the core DNA of our brand – minimalist design and maximum performance – a principle we share with Bang & Olufsen.”
The launch of the Cloudboom coincides with the release of the limited edition Beoplay E8 Sport On Edition earphones, a collaboration with Bang & Olufsen that features design aspects from On shoes.
The true wireless design features seven hours of battery life, with up to 30 hours including the charge in the case, an audio Transparency Mode that allows you to hear your surroundings and a ripped grip detailing that allows use when fingers are wet.

The limited release of the Beoplay E8 Sport On Edition is available at both the On and Bang & Olufsen websites as well as selected Bang & Olufsen stores. The price is £300.
