As well as a new UK-focused retail website
October will see the launch of Snow Peak’s first major expansion into the European market, with a flagship store located in London’s St James’s Market.
The new three-storey, 4,300 square foot space will sell the enormously popular range of outdoor products the Japanese company is known for in its home region and the US.
What is Snow Peak?

Although not well known in the UK, Snow Peak’s range covers a massive selection of products, from high-quality camping equipment to outdoor gear and lifestyle clothing. The brand is famous for creating practical and rather nice-looking designs built for comfort. Take a look at the website and see for yourself.
If you haven’t already heard of it, Snow Peak is a family-run business that started life in 1958 when its founder Yukio Yamai, a keen climber, decided to create his own climbing equipment.
In the 1980s his son, and current president, Tohru Yamai continued that ethos by introducing high-end camping equipment before his own daughter and current vice president, Lisa Yamai, launched Snow Peaks’s first apparel line in 2014.
Although the brand already works with a selection of retailers across Europe, the London store and website will be a big step in building its UK community.
What to expect
The Japanese concept of Noasobi or “playing in the outdoors” is the key ethos to the brand, and the new store will show off the Japanese-designed, lifetime-guaranteed products for outdoor living – as well as creating an immersive customer experience and cafe space.
Kei Saito, director of Snow Peak UK, said in a statement on the development: “When looking for a flagship store in Europe, we were excited to find such a great retail space in St James’s Market. Surrounded by specialty stores and restaurants with a quality focus, we are very happy to begin our new chapter of the business here.”
The new retail website can now be accessed at snowpeak.co.uk. The new store will open late October. Sign up to the newsletter for future updates.
