Not your average-looking outdoor wear
Japanese outdoor lifestyle brand Snow Peak has unveiled a new capsule collection, made in collaboration with New Balance’s Tokyo Design Studio.
The capsule features both footwear and apparel, in distinctive all-black colourways, geared towards both fashion and high performance.
The centrepiece of the collection is without a doubt the Snow Peak x New Balance R_C4 Mid Boot, a boot that makes no attempt at subtlety – existing as a bold fusion between a New Balance sneaker and a rugged outdoor boot.
It features a Cordura ripstop upper, breathable GORE-TEX lining, a heavy-duty Vibram outsole and a midsole with Encap Reveal technology. That’s tied together by a magnetic FIDLOCK buckle, and the shoe is topped off by a webbing N logo, to give you that classic New Balance look.
All of that means that the R_C4 should be suitable for fairly rugged outdoor use, with waterproofing and decent warmth.
It comes with reflective rope laces, a neoprene tongue and collar, and an insert and pull tab with both companies’ branding. It costs £270, which may be a bit steep for some.
The rest of the capsule is comprised of clothing, namely an overalls set, down pants, down jacket and a vest, with prices ranging from £539 to an eye-watering £949 for those overalls.
