Starting on 30 June and finishing on 3 July, the Arc’teryx Alpine Academy forms part of the Alpine Village based at the Place de Triangle de l’Amitié in the centre of Chamonix. Here, people can register for a wide range of clinics and free activities curated by Arc’teryx.
- Get the kit: The best hiking jackets
Those activities include a bouldering wall staffed by top guides and athletes, live DJ sets from Hotel Radio Paris and local DJs, a visual artistic exhibition, and a schedule of movie premieres from some of the world’s leading outdoor filmmakers.
The Arc’teryx Experience is an opportunity for explorers to delve into the world of Arc-Teryx. Led by brand and partner experts, people can explore dedicated spaces and learn about the R&D, manufacturing, testing and circularity processes that go to make the brand’s products.
For outdoor lovers, it’s a chance to test out some of Arc’teryx’s latest kit and learn about the technology used to make it, meaning you can quiz the experts behind it to find out which products are best for the type of activities you plan to do in the mountains.
You’ll also get the chance to learn about more than just climbing gear, with expert insights on nutrition and mountain safety.
Each day will culminate with world movie premieres celebrating the outdoors, including “Balkan Express” starring Max Kroneck, “Under Your Nose” from Tina Johnsen Hafsaas and Thilo Schröter, and “Climb Panamericana 2” with Ines Papert and Luka Lindič.
You’ll also be able to see “In Search of Awe” – shown on the big screen for the first time, and the Emmy award-winning film “The Alpinist”.
Max Müller, EMEA Sports Marketing Manager at Arc’teryx said of the event: “The Arc’teryx Alpine Academy aims to progress everyone’s mountain skills. Initially, the focus was on the educational clinics but over the years we have been building up the other activities and events to really celebrate mountain culture. This year again we’re taking this to new heights and ensuring that every experience at the Alpine Academy is awesome and immersive”.
If you’re not lucky enough to be in Chamonix over the course of the event, there’s also a fully digital program to accompany the live sessions. From 1-11 July you can access all the movies that will be screened during the Alpine Academy along with a panel discussion moderated by the mountain guide Isabelle Santoire.
