Under Armour has launched its latest training shoe, the UA HOVR Apex – aimed at the cross trainers that mix up running and the gym. Using UA’s HOVR technology, the company claims to mixes responsive cushioning, while still offering energy return.
Since it was released in 2018, the UA HOVR cushioning technology has been incorporated into several other Under Armour footwear releases. The Apex will be the first specifically designed for cross training between running and lifting.

Designed to allow for comfort, stability and flexibility in the gym, the layered support system is meant to lock in for springy takeoffs, stabilize the heel and provide lateral control, as well as help athletes to land more softly.
The upper is built with layers of support, functionally mapped and guided to the parts of the foot that need them most. UA TriBase technology is also incorporated into the outsole to maximize ground control while still allowing natural foot flexibility.
With an offset of 8mm and a weight of 13 oz/0.4kg, the new release also features a colorful, retro-inspired design and a webbed lacing system for a locked-in fit.
The UA HOVR Apex training shoe is available in the UK from 15 July and is already available in the US. It’s available in men and women’s sizes and costs £120. Click here to find out more.
