A showdown featuring some of the world's top athletes
Asics has launched a new time trial event designed to give elite athletes from around the world the opportunity to break records over multiple distances.
Over 80 international athletes will take part including British Eilish McColgan, Boniface Kibiwott, Vicoty Chepngeno and Mohamed Katir. Those elite runners, and many more, will cover 5km, 10km and half marathon races to break PBs wearing the new ASICS Metaspeed+.
The inaugural event will take place on 24 April 2022 in Málaga, Spain, in a series of races inspired by the Tour de France format. Those individual distances will be 5 kilometres, 10 kilometres and half marathon, all undertaken on a flat 2.5 km loop.
The event will also mark the unveiling of the new Metaspeed+, the successor to the hugely popular Metaspeed series of shoes released in 2021. The shoe has been designed alongside the Institute of Sports Science (ISS) using data accumulated through elite athletes in competitions to create the brand’s fastest ever shoe.
Races will begin from 6.45am BST and you can follow them all via the ASICS livestream through the ASICS Hub and YouTube channel from 6.30am BST. The first event will be the half marathon, followed by the 10km and then the 5km.
