Holistic health and fitness features with a slick design
Garmin has announced the release of the Venu Sq 2 and Venu Sq 2 Music Edition. The new GPS smartwatches are designed for those who want detailed health and fitness tracking alongside smart features like notifications and music.
The major difference between the two devices is the ability to store music on the Venu Sq 2 Music Edition using services such as Spotify Amazon Music and Deezer, meaning you can head out for a run or gym session without the need to carry your phone.
Both watches include functionality from across Garmin’s range, including all-day health monitoring covering 24/7 heart rate tracking and abnormal heart rate alerts, Body Battery energy monitoring to provide guidance on the best times for activity and rest, sleep monitoring and sleep score, and stress tracking.
There’s also women’s health tracking, allowing users to connect with the smartphone app to track a menstrual cycle or pregnancy, log symptoms and receive exercise and nutrition education. While Health Snapshot uses a 2-minute session to record metrics like heart rate, heart rate variability, Pulse Ox, respiration and stress, supplying a clear overview of those stats.
The devices come with over 25 preloaded GPS and indoor sports apps, including walking, running, cycling, and tennis, and comes complete with preloaded cardio, strength, yoga, HIIT and Pilates workouts. You can also use the inbuilt HIIT workouts or build your own based on the number of rounds and work/rest intervals.
More workouts can be downloaded to the watch from the Garmin Connect app or created from over 1,600 exercises. That includes training plans for runners via the Garmin Coach feature.
Smart features cover text messages, social media updates and emails direct to the watch, safety and tracking features that send live location data to chosen emergency contacts and Garmin Pay contactless payments.
The Venu Sq 2 Music Edition can store up to 500 songs on the watch, including playlists from Spotify Amazon Music and Deezer.
As well as a 1.4-inch AMOLED touchscreen display with a lightweight aluminum bezel and silicone band, the Venu Sq 2 comes in shadow grey/slate, white/cream gold and cool mint/metallic mint. The Venu Sq 2 – Music Edition comes in black/slate, ivory/peach gold and French grey/cream gold. Those designs and colorways can be mixed and matched using the Your Watch, Your Way feature on the Garmin wesbite.
