As well as the chance to win a pair through a new virtual run challenge
Hoka One One has announced the launch of its latest running shoe, the Clifton Edge, a piece of kit designed to offer a lightweight feel and a smooth, comfortable ride.
Following on from the popular Clifton range that first launched in 2014, the newest addition incorporates the same focus on maximum cushioning and minimal weight, making it a favourite amongst runners that want comfort but still need to be able to pick up the pace.

The most noticeable feature of the Clifton Edge is by far the addition of the extended heel section. Hoka One One claims that the geometric design, combined with its lightest foam so far, provides a smooth gliding sensation when running on roads.
Hoka One One fans will also notice that it’s a more subtle version of the TenNine trail shoe that was released earlier in the year.
That heel isn’t the only standout feature. The shoe also incorporates a padded collar for enhanced comfort at the ankle, an aggressive, early-stage Meta-Rocker, a new lightweight, high-resilience foam and a rubberized EVA outsole.
“HOKA is writing the story of performance footwear as we speak, and the Clifton Edge marks an exciting new chapter in that narrative,” said Wendy Yang, President of HOKA ONE ONE. “We have always taken a bold and unexpected approach to creating products that work for athletes of every level, and this is no exception. We believe the Clifton Edge will improve upon how athletes everywhere experience movement, and possibly open the door to that experience for even more people.”
To celebrate the launch of the Clifton Edge, Hoka One One has also announced the launch of the Ekiden Strava Challenge, a campaign named after the Japanese relay-style running race.
The virtual event, which takes place from 29 June and spans four weeks, will see participants run at least 5K per week as individuals or on a virtual team of four. The free challenge also means that participants can win a pair of Clifton Edge running shoes.
Hoka One One will also be giving away additional pairs of the Clifton Edge through social media sweepstakes throughout July. To enter, participants should use the new HOKA effect on an Instagram story explaining what “Time to Fly” means to them and tag three friends asking them to do the same, tagging @hokaoneone into the post.
“At HOKA, our motto is ‘Time to Fly”, and we believe we all fly higher when we fly together,” said Yang. “There has never been a more important time to connect and work as a unit, lifting each other up during an unprecedentedly challenging time. We know movement, and the connections we make through it, can be a crucial vehicle for healing. The HOKA Ekiden Strava Challenge will bring that idea to life. It may be a small step, but it is a step forward.”
The Clifton Edge is currently available for pre-sale and will launch online and at select retailers on 1 July priced at £140. Click here to find out more.
